Revival of Natak Mandali in Shikarpur - Documentart Film - Official Trailer
#Sindh has a long tradition of folk-theatre, the religious knowledge has been passed on by word of mouth and the moral teachings took the form of stories that were told in the form song, #dance, and #drama in a religious gathering.
In the 18th century, the theatrical performances moved out of the religious gatherings and temples and into the public streets in Shikarpur. In 1870-1960. #Shikarpur citizens poor and rich attended the theater to enjoy grand spectacles of #SindhiDrama, music, dance & poetry, so the emerging experimental theatre had become an integral part of the urban festive calendar in #Shikarpur, and these local performances emerged into organized theatre groups and offered the highest form of entertainment to the masses of #Shikarpur Sindh and in other regions of #British_Colonial_India. Filmmaker Shahnawaz Chachar tracks the development of theatre drama from mystery plays to morality plays and takes you on a storytelling journey about the rise and fall of #NatakMandali culture in #Shikarpur.Shahnawaz Chachar
